Transdanube Travel Stories

Brief information

Recognising the rich cultural and natural heritage, the Transdanube Travel Stories project aims to support sustainable tourism in the Danube Region by introducing innovative marketing concepts, new narratives and sustainable mobility management tools. In combination with the improved thematic and institutional cooperations, the framework conditions are created to better position the Danube as a unique, sustainable tourism destination on the market, so that more people in Europe can experience the European cultural and natural heritage in a sustainable way.

TOURISM

  • 6 new stories along 6 itineraries, linked by a new Danube narrative.
  • 6 innovative tools to experience the new itineraries
  • 6 tested "green" travel products
  • Danube Travel Challenge: competition to discover the new travel routes during the project period

MOBILITY MANAGEMENT

  • 6 Mobility plans for sustainable tourism along the new travel routes
  • Trained mobility managers who bring the concept of sustainable mobility management to your cultural routes and networks.
  • Information material and sustainable mobility management offers along the travel routes

IMPLEMENTATION AND COOPERATION

  • Product Clubs at selected destinations on each of the itineraries
  • Winter School on storytelling techniques and experience development for guides from the different destinations along each itinerary
  • E-learning videos
  • Networking and cooperation events

Project goals

  • Developing new and innovative narratives along an itinerary to promote the Danube macro-region as a tourism destination.
  • Integration of sustainable transport into the concept of soft tourism
  • Create identification and the capacity to promote sustainable tourism through local capacity building and strengthen cooperation in the Danube Region.
