The Danube Office Ulm/Neu-Ulm
The Danube Office is a non-profit limited company of the cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm and a municipal motor of cooperation in the Danube region.
Divided into the three core task areas Projects, Events- and Network the Danube Office facilitates, supports and promotes encounters, understanding, interregional cooperation and development in the entire Danube region.
The main topics are sustainable mobility, environmental education, youth, culture as well as current socio-politically relevant topics & challenges of particular importance.
As the first major centre on the Danube, for the twin cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm, a united Europe is in particular a "Europe along the Danube". Our relationship to it and our own role in it are central issues for us as Danube riparians - "The Danube makes Europe tangible for us".
It was in 2011 that the EU Commission launched the second European macro-regional strategy. The state of Baden-Württemberg, together with the city of Ulm, were the driving forces and pioneers of the strategy at that time.
The Danube is inextricably linked to us, our history and our European future.
Despite all the justified criticism of Europe, we must not lose sight of the essentials - especially in stormy times. Fighting for our common Europe is worth every effort. Today - more than ever - we see how important it was and is to focus our attention on the Danube region in particular. We want to make our contribution to connecting the Danube region, to moving it forward together and to making it a tangible experience - in short, to filling our role in a united Europe in peace and freedom with life!
We do this, among other things, by creating encounters, facilitating exchange and implementing concrete projects - be it with young people, in culture, in the topics of environment & mobility, in socio-political discourse or the exchange of civil society.
In the last five years, transnational EU projects of the Danube Office (Transdanube.Pearls, Transdanube Travel Stories and LENA) have reached about 100 partner institutions in the entire extended Danube Region and partly beyond. The Danube Pearls Network emerged from the Interreg project Transdanube.Pearls and the Danube Guides Network from the Interreg-funded project LENA.
The TDP project also gave rise to the docking project "Sustainable Mobility in Ulm and Neu-Ulm", funded by the State Ministry. Here, about 45 regional actors, under the leadership of the Danube Office, have networked with each other and are in regular exchange on the topic of sustainable mobility in tourism in the region.
