Health in Europe

Artificial intelligence between progress and ethics

How is artificial intelligence (AI) changing our healthcare system and what impact will it have on our everyday lives? On 14 January 2026 we would like to invite you to an exciting online event in which we will shed light on precisely these questions. From 6:00 pm Together with experts, we will discuss how AI is already being used in medicine today and what opportunities and challenges this presents.

A shortage of skilled labour, demographic change and new threats such as cyberattacks pose major challenges for our healthcare system. More than ever, we need to make it more efficient and better protected. AI has the potential to fundamentally change the way diagnoses are made, treatments are administered and personal health data is managed. But while the technology is developing rapidly, it is crucial that we also keep an eye on the ethical and data protection implications.

Our event will show how AI is being used in healthcare today to improve patient care - and what new applications are conceivable in the future. We will also discuss the role of the European Union in this context: How far along are other countries? What can we learn from our European neighbours?

It discusses:

Mrs Katja Vonhoff, Moderation,
Member of the Speakerspool Team Europe Direct of the European Commission, Head of the Robert Bosch Centre for Innovation in Healthcare,

Mrs Nadine Schlicker,
Research associate at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine at the University Hospital Giessen and Marburg, expert in human-AI interaction,

Mr Fabian Lechner,
Head of Artificial Intelligence at AGAPLESION, expert in AI applications in the healthcare sector.

Afterwards there will be time for questions.
We look forward to an exciting discussion!

The event will take place online. Participation link
