Women's Day 2026

Author's talk - Strong women on the Danube

When people talk about strong women, it is primarily those representatives who have found a place in history through outstanding achievements in their field or their special biographies who are mentioned. Their fight against great odds, their courage, their determination and their special achievements are exemplary testimonies to the fight against injustice and prejudice.

The „Strong Women on the Danube“ event aims to give a voice to those women who do not necessarily appear in the who's who, but whose lives are exemplary for many comparable biographies in the present day. We have invited the Author Maria Lehner. In her book »...and then into the Black Sea«, she describes ten women's stories and links them to historical and political events in the Danube region. On this evening, she will read short passages from her book and enter into dialogue with the presenter. There will also be musical accompaniment.

Moderation: Tanja Nova (vh Ulm, Culture)

A joint event organised by the Cultural Officer for the Danube Region, the Women's Academy vh Ulm and the Danube Office Ulm/Neu-Ulm. And with the kind support of Danube Book Verlag.
