Interactive Danube tour for school classes at the International Danube Festival
What actually lives in the Danube? At the free Danube‑Guides‑The guided tour „Danube under the magnifying glass!“ allows pupils to discover the Danube as a fascinating, diverse habitat - with landing nets, a fish mobile and plenty of hands-on experience.
Together with water guide and Danube Guide Günther Hänle, the pupils explore plants and animals in and around the watercourse. Insect larvae, fish and crustaceans are identified while netting in the river and playfully explained what they reveal about the water quality. The fish mobile makes it possible to experience the Danube interactively and vividly.
Participation:
- Grades 3-4: 9:00-10:30 a.m.
- Grades 5-6: 11:00-12:30 and 13:00-14:30

The Danube Guides are specially trained nature‑ and cultural mediators for the Danube region. They make the nature‑ and cultural heritage of the Danube for different target groups - from school classes to the general public - in a vivid, practical and experience-orientated way.
