Between Berlin, Ulm and Brussels: foreign policy in dialogue

Townhall meeting with Siyuan He from the Federal Foreign Office

Have you ever wondered what it's like to work at the Federal Foreign Office? Would you like to find out more about how international diplomacy works and what role the European Union plays in it?

Then our Townhall Meeting is the right place for you! Siyuan He, a consultant in the Department for Culture and Society at the Federal Foreign Office, will be giving insights behind the scenes at the Federal Foreign Office and her work. She will be on hand to answer questions and share her thoughts on German foreign policy.

What exactly is a town hall meeting?

A town hall meeting is an open discussion format that gives you the opportunity to experience foreign policy directly in dialogue with Foreign Office staff. Instead of long-winded lectures, you can expect a direct exchange in which your questions about the foreign policy issues of our time and what they specifically mean for our country are discussed.

Why should I go there?

How does Germany shape its foreign policy - and what does this mean for us as citizens? Take the opportunity to ask your questions about foreign policy and discuss them openly with an expert who works on this topic every day!

Who can take part?

The event is aimed at anyone interested in Germany's foreign policy and the country's role in Europe and the world. Admission is free.

The speaker:
Siyuan He joined the Foreign Service in 2019. After completing her training at the Foreign Service Academy, she took up her first post at the German Representation Office in Ramallah, where she was responsible for stabilisation and humanitarian aid. Since 2023, she has been working in the Department for Cultural and Social Affairs at the Federal Foreign Office and is responsible for literature and translation promotion as well as the Franco-German Cultural Institutes, among other things.

Siyuan He graduated from Kepler-Gymnasium in Ulm in 2008. Before joining the Foreign Service, she worked as an interpreter, translator and journalist and, together with friends, founded sinonerds e.V., an online platform that aims to familiarise German readers with Chinese (everyday) culture.

Come along and get involved. We look forward to your participation!
