Musical temperament on a journey through Europe

The Katalin Horvath Quartet comes with a suitcase full of music from many European countries: swinging French chansons, powerful songs from Portugal next to passionate tangos, fiery Hungarian Csárdás unleashed in Romanian and Serbian dances and music of the Sinti and Roma from Eastern and Western Europe swinging powerfully into the feet of the audience.

So travel with us from French coasts to Finnish lakes, from Serbian forests to Spanish La Mancha, from the Romanian Carpathians to the Hungarian Puszta. In the sounds of the music, we see the hustle and bustle of colourful markets, people with different temperaments, hats and coats in coffee houses, glowing candles in cathedrals and chapels. We feel the love, sorrow, joy, humour and laughter in our hearts.

Katalin Horvath embodies all of this in her voice, her body and her heart. As both accompanist and soloist, she brings along musicians who shine on stage with their virtuosity, musical versatility and sympathy.
