The hour of Europe!

European defence capability in the context of multiple crises

Venezuela, Greenland, Iran - the global political situation is changing rapidly. The USA, China and Russia are setting new accents in the global power structure. The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine continues, the USA is shaking the foundations of the transatlantic relationship and China is striving for a dominant position in the global economy and security policy. All of these developments are increasing the pressure on Europe to redefine its security policy role and significantly strengthen its ability to act and defend itself.

This raises key questions:

How can Europe take greater control of its own security in future? What is the significance of military cooperation, armaments cooperation and joint defence structures? And what are the prospects for the transatlantic alliance?

In March 2025, the European Commission presented the „White Paper on European Defence“ and the „ReArm Europe / Readiness 2030“ defence package, two key initiatives aimed at urgently needed investment and better European coordination.

Our event will show what role European cooperation plays in this complex global political situation, what approaches are being pursued by the EU and what role Germany plays in the European security structure.
